Dividend Income Update – April 2019

April 2019 Dividends – $432.54

Total Dividends for the Year – $1,337.60

This month I received nine dividend payments from the following companies:

Date Company Ticker Dividends
4/1/2019 Coca-Cola KO $40.00
4/15/2019 Realty Income O $22.60
4/30/2019 SPDR S&P 500 ETF SPY $369.94
Total $432.54

In total, I’ve received $1,337.60 so far, according to this schedule:

My Current Progress

I’m about 1/3 of the way towards my goal of $4,500 this year since SPY dumped a huge dividend into my account this month. I’ve been continually adding more towards my current positions this month, trying to build up that dividend machine. Every paycheck I receive goes towards my investments.

My April 2019 results this year represent a 551.50% increase over my dividend payment from April 2018 last year.

January gave me a huge jump start in the year because the core of my portfolio is retained in SPY. SPY paid out a huge dividend because I currently have 300 shares in them. As a result, I can continue to expect these dividend bombs every quarter to help me towards my goal.

Conclusion

My overall portfolio is currently up 17.21% this year with the recent surge in April. The S&P is up 16.38% which gives me a portfolio alpha of about 0.83%.

Ideally, I’m investing long term such that one day my portfolio will be producing passive income to cover my necessary expenses. Which basically equates to financial freedom in today’s lingo.

My eye has always been on stable dividend growth companies as I believe dividend growth investing is king. I also like defensive stocks and non-cyclical companies. They tend to have less volatility during market swings.
